Scones & Lemon Curd
One of my wife’s favorite breakfasts is Scones and Lemon Curd. I whipped up a batch of Alton Brown’s scones and his lemon curd for breakfast this morning. Just nom.
Pumpkin Roll
I have only had a few of these before making one myself. I’m not sure I’d actually have ever attempted to make one on my one except that last night, a friend had commented about them and I decided that I’d make one. To quote Spongebob: “The deliciousness has landed.”
When are you sending me some of the amazingly delicious food you keep posting? ;-)
If you make it out this way, a meal will be prepared for you and your fam. I’ve already informed the wife. :D
Hummingbird Cake
While nothing about me is southern, everything about this cake is. For as long as I can remember, when it is summer my mom makes this cake.
The recipe I have for this is old. Old enough to call for a box of powdered sugar. I actually had to look up how much sugar a box contained. Also, it just says: Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix.
Having watched Good Eats just about forever, I knew right away that this dish should be made using the Muffin Method. This is where you combine all the dry ingredients in one bowl, the wet in another (treating the sugar as a wet ingredient in this case) and then carefully fold the wet into the dry until they just come together.
Lessons learned. Use bananas that are slightly more ripe, and mash them not dice them. Other than that, this is as good as my mom’s. Maybe even a bit better.

These are tasty and oaty, and fairly easy to make. Made from home-ground oat flour.
